Many people are drinking at least one cup of favorite flavors of yogurt. And they’re right! Yogurt is a great prevention for many diseases, including diabetes.
Daily consumption of yogurt, according to one research is associated with an average 18 % lower risk of type 2 diabetes.
Eating yogurt is not a “magic wand” and a healthy diet is crucial to maintain the recommended body mass and reduce the risk of incidence of type 2 diabetes. The research was conducted on the sample of about 51,000 men and 238,000 women, of whom about 15,000 developed, type 2 diabetes.
The researchers added that the entry of other dairy products was not associated with risk of type 2 diabetes. One possible explanation for the results refers to the action of probiotics in yogurt, or their influence to reduce inflammatory processes and improve the functions of key hormones to control appetite.
Type 2 diabetes, or insulin-dependent diabetes or adult diabetes, is a metabolic disorder characterized by elevated glucose levels in the context of insulin resistance and relative insulin deficiency. Common symptoms are excessive thirst, frequent urination and constant hunger, where obesity is considered the primary cause of type 2 diabetes in people who are genetically predisposed to the disease.
Diabetes Type 2 is initially treated with increased exercise and changing diet and, if blood sugar is not reduced by these measures drugs may be required.
